Quick Update
Ok guys, so I'm kinda busy this week, so the posts probably won't be very exciting. (Sorry- lots of homework and studying to do) Here are some quick photos though that I haven't put up yet. These are from the Pijama Party a few weeks ago/ Bungee Jumping and Biarritz this weekend! Enjoy!

This coming weekend:
This weekend is Halloween, and of course I have planned something amazing! We are going to Madrid. The only problem?
I STILL DON'T HAVE A COSTUME!
If you have any ideas, I need them! Right now I am at a loss as to what I could be. Help!!!
Anyways, since I am going to Madrid, just an FYI I will be out of touch this weekend. I am not going to bring my computer as I feel as that is just asking for it to get stolen, and I would probably die without my computer!
Hope all is going well!
XOXO

Taking the plunge..
Once again another EPIC weekend in Spain! I am getting to be known as quite a nutter over here ;) This weekend I fulfilled a dream of mine that I have been wanting to do for YEARS. I jumped off a bridge!
In all honesty, it was completely indescribable. I have never felt anything like it before. During the minutes before the jump, I wasn't sure if I could do it. I was freaking out. Especially when I was standing on the rail waiting for him to secure everything I could only think that I wasn't sure I could do it! However, it was amazing. When he said my name, I didn't even flinch. I just took my hands off those bars and DOVE! Incredible! Here is the video in case you haven't already seen it!

J'aime Paris
Ah goodness. This weekend was probably one of the best so far here in Europe. I jetted to a little old city you might know of called PARIS :) It was absolutely fantastic. The city is honestly everything you think it is. There is a saying that goes "You can never visit Paris for the first time, just revisit it." This is completely true. You see Paris all the time on tv, in movies, in pictures, etc. You already KNOW Paris before you actually see it.
Our flight left from Madrid early Friday morning at 6am. We took the 3pm Thursday bus to Madrid and got in around 8:30pm. We found a little sandwich place to eat at. We didn't want to book a hostel for the night so instead we went straight to the airport. We found a food gallery that was open 24 hours that had some soft benches. We slept there. We had 8 hours at the airport to kill! It was exhausting! Our flight left Madrid at 6:30 am and we got into Paris at 8:30. Boy was it cold. I walked out of the plane and thought I had somehow ended up in the North Pole. haha.. It was the first time I had seen my breath in Europe!
We then had to take a bus from the airport to the city center, all of which I slept. I had no idea we had even arrived at the city until I heard someone say, "wow - she is OUT." That's when I woke up and realized there were only a few of us still on the bus! Needless to say my airport bed must not have been that comfortable!
Once the bus dropped us off, we found our way to the metro station in order to find our way to our hostel. It was kind of confusing, but lucky for us, we had Nerea! She not only is a mean metro navigator, but she also speaks fluent french! Exactly what we needed because we ended up getting lost :( haha When we go off on our metro stop, we ended up walking the wrong direction in hopes of finding a hostel. It wasn't until we found a very nice french woman that we were told how to get where we needed to go. We checked ourselves into the hostel and then went straight out to explore. We didn't want to waste ANY time, seeing as we only had 2 days.
The first thing we did, was get a crepe. We figured, we're in Paris, why not? Little did we know that over the next two days, crepes would be almost the entirety of our diet.
Stop #1 was Montmartre, the highest point in Paris. This is where this picture was taken. As you can see, it is really quite beautiful. I bet this is a gorgeous site when the sky is clear, because it was absolutely amazing on this cloudy/rainy day!

On Montmartre is a church called the Sacre-Coeur. This church was built using donations from the people of Paris. Translated it means 'sacred heart'.
After looking at the Sacre-Coeur, we went on in search of the famous Moulin Rouge (We thought maybe we'd get a job to pay for the trip to Paris. Boy was it spendy!) We walked around forever looking for it but we finally did. Honestly, it looks exactly the same as in the pictures and stuff. We really wanted to go see a show, however that was way too expensive, and it turns out they weren't hiring. :( Too bad, maybe next time?
We then went to the Pantheon, which is where famous French people have some of their tombs. This includes, Voltaire, Rousseau, and authors such as Emile Zola and Victor Hugo. The building was actually quite beautiful, and it was interesting to see the tombs of some of these people. There were a lot of people that were there that I had no idea, for example Marie Curie was there too.

After the Pantheon, we went to the Luxembourg Gardens. These were absolutely beautiful so we hung out here for awhile, until we realized just how starving we were. We had seen a million sushi places throughout the day, so we thought that was a good idea. Funny thing is, we couldn't find a sushi place anywhere around where we were! How ironic. It's like change in your purse. Always there when you don't want it, but when you need it, you can never find it! Luckily we eventually stumbled upon a street that had 6 or 7 sushi restaurants! The one we chose was absolutely delicious, and pretty cheap. For 10 euro I got soup, salad, rice, 12 pieces of sushi, and 3 skewers. Mmmmhmm It was delicious! I even at the whole meal with chopsticks! (For those of you who have ever been out to teriyaki with me, you realize what an amazing feat this is!)
After eating, we went home, got ready , and went out. We didn't want to spend any money, so instead we just decided to head to the eiffel tower. It was kinda late, so we didn't go up on the first night because we wanted time to be able to enjoy it.Instead we just sat on the grass and watched it. We also made some argentinian friends. They were super nice. After this, we were exhausted. So we took the last metro home, and went straight to sleep. We had a busy day planned the next day!
Day number two started off when we woke up at 8 am to go downstairs and get the breakfast that was offered at our hostel. Little did we know, we woke up for a freaking BAGUETTE! Not even a good baguette. You would think that being in France, who are kinda known for their bread, we would get a delicious piece of bread. Instead we got this tiny little rock hard baguette that tasted like crap. I was so mad! I told everyone that if we had slept in, I would've bought them baguettes!
After breakfast we all got ready, and then left the hostel to go meet up with a free tour that Andrea had heard about. She had done one in Prague, and figured the Paris one would be just as good. We met in front of the Fountain of St. Michel. There were a ton of people so we split into groups. The tour guide we had was a girl from Sydney, Australia. She was quite spunky, and very interesting. She told us all sorts of stories. Places we went to on our tour/ places we saw were: Notre Dame, The river Seine, Tuileries, the Basilisk from Egypt, The Louvre, Gran Palais, Petit Palais, Invalides, Palais Royal, and many other small places along the way. The tour was 3 1/2 hours long! It was very interesting to hear her stories and historical information! The next few pics were taken on the tour.
This was on a bridge. The view behind me is of the River Seine. On the right you have the right bank, and on the left you have Ile de la Cite.

This was taken near the Egyptian Obelisk. If you look in the back, you can see the Eiffel Tower!
This one is at the Louvre!
This wasn't actually taken on the tour, but it was in an art gallery that we found. It had some pretty interesting things.
After we finished the long tour, we doubled back and decided to go to the things we thought were interesting. The first on our list was of course, The Louvre Museum. Why might you ask? If you don't know then you're stupid. The Louvre houses the most famous painting of all time. Still don't know? Stop reading this. You're not smart enough to be my friend. THE MONA LISA! The first thing we did upon entering the Louvre was go to the Mona Lisa. There were so many people! It looks exactly like you think it does. But the thing is that it's amazing to realize that this is the actual painting that Da Vinci sat down and did. It's the one he carried with him. His MASTERPIECE. It's very humbling actually to know that you are so close to something so fantastic.

We also saw some other sculptures and painting but my favorite by far was the Mona Lisa. After leaving the Louvre, we decided to go to Notre Dame and the other two girls went to Jim Morrison's grave. I really wanted to see the gargoyles on top of the Notre Dame, which did you know is 422 steps up the tower! Unfortunately when we got there, the towers were closed and we were only able to go inside the church itself. It was still beautiful though.
Next, Nerea and I did some shopping and mosey'd our way back toward the Eiffel Tower which is where we were supposed to meet up with our friends Andrea and Diana. We finally were going to go up! On our way, we passed a bunch of the sites we had seen earlier, only this time is was at night. For example, the picture below is at the Gran Palais. Funny story. We each loved the background so we each got an individual picture. Then we asked someone to take a picture of us with the background. The guy captured a BUS. bahahahhahaa. It was just so pretty, we had to take a picture!

Last, but certainly not least was the EIFFEL TOWER. We finally went up, and it was amazing. It's so high but oh so pretty. I'm super happy that we went up at night. It was really cool to look down on the city of Paris and see all the lights and everything.
This picture is at the end of everything. My last crepe and my last glimpse of the beautiful Eiffel Tower. An image I will keep in my mind until my next trip to Paris :)

Part 3:
So day #3 was a much more laid back day. This day, we stayed in the town of Getxo ( which is where Nerea lives) and did some exploring. We went to a big bridge that connects Getxo with another town and then we did a lot of walking around looking at different houses, the beach, and la molina, which is a windmill. It was very pretty and very laid back. We ate lunch at a delicious mexican restaurant and met some cool people. I will definitely be returning here before coming back to the US!
We then caught the bus at 8pm, were home by 10pm and I went to bed to face reality in the morning!

Another jumping picture for you to feast your eyes upon!
Here is the bridge I was telling you about!
Honestly, I didn't break this bench. It was like that when I sat down!

Part 2:
Ah. I apologize for the slight delay in my blog entries. I failed to have time to finish these before jetting to Paris for the weekend. I do hope you'll forgive me. If not- go away, you don't need to read this anyway ;)
Anyways, I do believe I left off with us getting ready to go out. We got ready and left the house around 12:30am to meet up with some of Nerea's friends. They were just hanging out in Bilbo, under an overpass (they do it classy here), and drinking. We sat there for awhile with them, but it was pretty cold, so we decided to go to FEVER, which is apparently the best club in Bilbo. It was a lot of fun. We stayed there until 7am, and took the metro home. We were in bed at 7:30, and had to wake up at 10!
After we woke up, we got up, had a delicious breakfast complete once again with fresh squeezed orange juice, and got ready for our road trip!
The first place we went to was Lekeitio. It is a beautiful coastal town. It was there that I had the best calamari of my entire life! (See picture below) It didn't need sauce or anything. It was absolutely delicious. Believe me, I've eaten a lot of calamari in my life, just ask my sister about our trip to San Francisco! ;) This was the best! After eating and walking around a bit, we headed back to the car to set off once more on our journey.
Next stop: Gernika. You may be wondering where you've heard this name before. Honestly, you most likely haven't! It's not very well known, EXCEPT for Picasso's famous painting : The Bombing of Gernika. Yep. That's about the extent to which people of the world know of Gernika, Spain. However, to the people of the Basque country, Gernika plays a very important part of history. It has a lot to do with meeting and making rules, and a tree. It's actually quite interesting, but unfortunately history is not my thing and I tend to forget it! Whoops!
Next: Mundaka. There was a surf competition going on here so we decided to stop and take a look. Apparently the waves here are usually quite amazing, however on this day, NOT SO MUCH. Therefore they moved the day's events to a different day that would hopefully have better waves. Meaning, I missed out on watching hot men in tight suits surf on waves. Needless to say, I was pretty upset. But turns out that it was ok, because the information desk gave us pretty posters and maps. Good thing I'm easily distracted and amused :)
Next: Bermeo
We stopped in Bermeo because they are famous for their fish Bonito del Norte. This is my new favorite fish. It's kinda like tuna, but 100 times better! It had a beautiful view of the coast. We sat and had coffee and just looked at the ocean. We weren't there for long, but I had a lot of fun.
Last stop: San Juan de Gaztelugaxi
This was by far the most exhausting part of the trip. This was a church that was basically at the the top of a rock that was in the middle of the water. The only way to it? Hike down a muddy trail and then climb a mountain of steps to the top. Think that stopped us? Nope. Even though it was raining and I was in white flats and had no jacket, we decided to go anyway. It was absolutely gorgeous. We hiked the trail (holding on for dear life the entire way) and then started the climb to the top of the rock. Nerea and I counted the steps to the top. The final number: 231 steps! It was such a good workout though. I loved it. We got to ring the church bell at the top and then we managed to watch the sunset over the ocean. Very very pretty. Totally worth it.
Well- That was it for day 2. After this we were exhausted so we went home, had dinner and passed out while watching tv. All in all, it was a fantastic day!

Bilbao
Okie. Dokie. Sorry I haven't updated in awhile. I had quite the busy weekend. We had a 3-day weekend, so I went home with my friend Nerea to her parent's house in Getxo ( pronounced Get-cho) There were really 3 different parts to the weekend, so it only seems fitting that there will be 3 different blog entries :) We took the 8pm bus on friday night to Bilbao (which is about a 2 hour bus ride). We got in around 10 and Nerea's dad picked us up. We drove to Getxo (about 15 mins away from Bilbao) and there her parents had dinner waiting for us on the table. Her parents were absolutely amazing all weekend. They wouldn't let us do a thing! Each night we had a nice home-cooked dinner, and each morning they made us breakfast complete with fresh-squeezed orange juice.
But anyway, sorry about my tangent.. - After dinner we got ready and her dad drove us to a bar that her friend Natxo ( pronounced Na-cho) manages. We met up with a few of her friends and just hung out, danced, and had a good time. We got home around 3, and crashed because we were so exhausted and we had a busy day ahead of us! Cute little sidenote, when we got home, her parents had pulled out our beds for us, and even folded the blanket back so it was ready to get in. So ADORABLE!
On Saturday morning, we woke up at 9, had delicious breakfast, and headed out. The plan for this day was the city of Bilbao. However it's super funny because in Basque ( which is the region of Spain that is very controversial because many Basque extremists don't want anything to do with Spain and want to secede from the rest of the country) the name of the city is Bilbo. Remind you of anything? Because it definitely reminds me of Lord of the Rings- Bilbo Baggins! bahahhahahaa.. I know. I crack myself up. Anyways- we went to this lookout at the top of a hill where you could see all of Bilbo. It was absolutely gorgeous. Then we took this tram-thingy that was almost like a roller coaster, only it didn't go fast, down the hill and we were in Bilbo!
The first item on the list was seeing a famous bridge. It was really a cool bridge. It's called el puente zubizuri. I have absolutely no idea why, but it's kind of a cool name :) Next stop? The GUGGENHEIM! Such a cool museum. The architecture was fantastic, and the exhibits were really cool. Honestly, I'm terrible with art, but it was really cool to see. Although, I must say that I think the museum hated me. I ripped my pants AND got yelled at for taking a picture. hahahahaha. Whoops! That's what I get for trying to be a rebel! I honestly thought I could get away with it, but then when I took the picture, a bell started ringing and next thing I know I had a woman coming over to me yelling, saying "no photos! No photos! I'm watching you!" This was in Spanish, which made it even more scary! Especially when she pointed her fingers at me and made the "I'm watching you!" motion!
After we left the Guggenheim, we just went and walked around the city. We stopped and had kebabs, and then we went and had ice cream! I had a scoop of coconut ice cream and a scoop of lavender ice cream. The lavender was fantastic! Also, as we were walking, the woman came up to us with a box, and was like, "you want to play a game?" Of course we wanted to play games! So - thinking it was something fun, we stick our hands in the box and pull out pieces of paper. We read what it says, thinking that we are going to find out what our prizes are. Only to find out, that we had all just contracted different STD's !hahahahhahaha.. Apparently it was an educational thing about having safe sex, not a GAME where you win fun prizes. hahaha.. The girl then gave us a spiel on safe sex and handed us condoms. Oh goodness, what a fun game!
We then took the metro home, and took a nap from 7:30-10. Had dinner at 11, and then we got ready. The rest of the night will be included in Blog #2 because most of it took place between 12am and 7am (which technically was Sunday's adventure) :) Ta Ta for now!
OH WAIT! haha.. Here are some photos from the day's adventure in Bilbo!

Apparently it was an educational thing about having safe sex, not a GAME where you win fun prizes. hahaha.. Sticking out like a sore thumb
It's a good thing that I don't mind being the oddball in a crowd! haha. Last night I went to a Roman themed party. Of course, in true Yvonne fashion, I dressed up. So did other people, but none of these other people were GIRLS! I was dumbfounded. Some guys dressed up, but I was the ONLY girl in the bar dressed in theme. hahahaha It's ok because my outfit was amazing. I made it out of a pillowcase, silver string, and a silver scarf. Cost? Less than 5 euro. This is the life. When I come home, I don't think I'm going to know what to do without the lovely Chinese shops that have come to be my crutch in Spain whenever I need something! Also, when I come home expect me to want to theme everything! Including, classes, dinners, workouts, etc. I'm going to want everyone to dress up with me too! So get ready!

Let me just say, even though I was the ONLY girl in a Toga, it was awesome :) I don't understand why people don't wear them all the time? They're actually quite comfortable!
P.S. I will not be here this weekend, so I most likely won't have any updates on here until Monday night! Hope that's ok! XOXO
